I am writing this as Arsenal enter the most crucial part of the 2025-26 season.
Having lost the Carabao Cup Final to Manchester City in a meek manner, Mikel Arteta's men were bundled out of the FA Cup by an in form Southampton side at St Mary before registering a 1-0 win over Sporting in Lisbon to bring back a slender lead back to London for the second leg of the Champions League quarter final.
Then when the opportunity to open up a twelve point gap at the top of the Premier League appeared against Bournemouth, the in form Cherries proceeded to quash hopes of many Gooners by winning the encounter at The Emirates 2-1.
Now it is time to meet Sporting again for the a place in the last four of the premier continental tournament that have eluded us for so many years.
Talks about a quadruple season has vanished since our cup defeats. I have voiced my opinion that it was an impossible thing to do, especially by a team which has won nothing since 2020, which has been going through a rebuilding process for more than a decade now.
I would be happy with just winning the Premier League though a successful Champions League campaign would give me equal satisfaction. Winning both would see me going bald as my nazar.
It is not the time to call for Arteta's head. For me he has done a magnificent job by pushing the league title race to the wire for the last three seasons, given numerous decisions that went against Arsenal during those seasons, could have seen him winning the Premier League during each of those season.
However that is the reality of being a Gooner, from being happy in winning a few cups every now and then, to becoming champions, then becoming champions with artistic football to a dry spell without any success but playing beautiful football.
Now we could end our drought of success this season but there is the fear of bottling it which has become a source of banter to our rival fans.
After coming close so many times it is the right time for the team to finally deliver.
