Emirates Cup - Late Goals Secure Draw for Gunner

No live telecast by anyone here in Malaysia, thus I just watched the highlights on the net.

2-2.

Report suggested it was an entertaining match with Arsenal fans catching glimpse of Gonzalo Higuain on the bench before he came on in the second half.

The Italians played a long pass into the Arsenal penalty area. Carl Jenkinson did well to track the goalscorer, Lorenzo Insigne but could not head the ball away from danger. Instead the ball fell to the Italian who made no mistake to slot it past Lukasz Fabianski.

From the replay I would say Jenkinson should do better with his attempted header. Luckily that this was just a pre-season tournament and hopefully the young full-back won't repeat the same mistake again in the future.

A goal down after seven minutes. Then twenty minutes later, Goran Pandev added the second after running onto a pass from a team-mate before rounding Fabianski and slotting the ball into the empty net.

Ten minutes prior to the goal, Lukas Podolski failed to beat Pepe Reina from the spot after Kieran Gibbs was adjudged to have been fouled inside the box.

Pandev gave way to Higuain in the second half but from what I gathered Laurent Koscielny had him under wraps for most of the time.

Then Olivier Giroud reduced the deficit via a deflection in the 72nd minute and four minutes from time Koscielny headed home the equaliser after he reacted quickly when Reina palmed away a header by fellow defender, Per Mertesacker from a Mikel Arteta's free-kick.

It is good to see Giroud scoring. I would like to see Podolski scoring too. And Theo Walcott, Santi Cazorla, even Arteta. So that we can stop the reported attempt to sign the 'biting one' from Liverpool.
